Audi A5 Features

    • Audi debuted the A5 luxury coupe in 2007 for the 2008 model year. Originally, the A5 came available with one trim level, but the 2011 A5 is available in Premium and Premium quattro models. The A5 falls into the Audi's A-model lineup between the A4 compact coupe and the A6 midsize sedan. The all-new 2011 Audi A5 comes with plenty of standard and optional features, and is available as a coupe or as a convertible.

    Engine and Fuel Economy

    • The 2011 A5 comes with only one engine option: a 211-horsepower, 2.0-liter, inline four-cylinder. With double-overhead cams, variable valve timing and 9.6-to-1 compression ratio, the A5 reaches maximum horsepower at 4,300 rpm. Maximum torque is reached at 1,500 rpm with 258 feet-pounds of torque. The engine is capable of achieving about 21 mpg city and about 31 mpg highway. With a 17.2-gallon fuel tank, the A5's overall range is about 360 to 530 miles.

    Transmission and Drive Type

    • The 2011 A5 comes with a six-speed manual transmission. Available transmission options include an eight-speed shiftable transmission, as well as a multi-tronic eight-speed continuously-variable transmission. The continuously-variable transmission provides smoother shifting, allows for less fuel consumption and shifts more efficiently than any other transmission. The A5 Premium quattro coupe and convertible models sport all-wheel drive, while the convertible Premium model is front-wheel drive.

    Interior and Safety

    • Each model of the 2011 A5 supports seating for up to four people, with front bucket seats and a rear bench seat. Leather seat trim comes standard. A power sunroof comes with each, except for the convertible which comes with a power soft-top. Rain-detecting windshield wipers are available, as well as a DVD entertainment system, rear-view camera, Sirius satellite radio, and dual-zone front air conditioning. Power locks and power windows come standard with the A5. Safety features include four-wheel anti-lock brakes, driver and passenger front- and side-impact airbags, and an overhead airbag.
