Keeping children interested in learning about the Bible can be a difficult task. Coming up with creative, innovative ways to get the message across to children will not only make the Bible more fun for them, but it will also make the lesson more enjoyable for you. Crafts, songs and games are just some ideas to make learning about the Bible more fun for children.

Animals of the Bible Craft Ideas

    • There are many passages within the Bible that deal with animals. Children of all ages can relate to animals. There are many cute crafts that correspond with stories about Jesus' baptism, Noah's Ark and parables such as "The Rich Young Man." For passages such as these, you can have the children draw and cut out the animals that they find within the story. You can then have them make their animal into a name tag or keep it as a paper craft. Have the children talk about what you read and discuss their animal and how it fit into the passage.

    Bible Songs

    • It is always good to include music in lessons. There are a lot of songs that have biblical references but are still related to children. Have children gather into a small circle and talk about the role of music both in church and in everyday life. Explain how stories, such as those found in the Bible, can be told through a song. Share with the children examples of songs and play them for the children. Some popular Bible songs include "This Little Light of Mine," "Father Abraham" and "The Crayon Box Song."

    Bible Games

    • Making a game out of what you are trying to teach can be a very effective way to reach the children. One fun game is to have your children brainstorm how many Bible verses that they know. Have them write them down as best they can on pieces of colored paper. When they are finished, put them together to create a mosaic and quiz the children to see what verses they know and which ones they are unsure of. This game can also be used with the people of the Bible. Put the name of a biblical person on one side and three facts about that person on the other. Mix them up and have the children take turns picking from a bowl. See if they can figure out what person they have based on the facts provided.
