England's tourists can find sites of historical or cultural significance in every corner of the country. The capitol of England, London, is home to iconic landmarks, such as the Big Ben clock tower and London Bridge, while sailing activities are available on the British Channel in southern England and the North Sea near Durham County. All the regions of England have hotel accommodations within close proximity to popular tourist attractions.

    Burgh Island Hotel

    • The Burgh Island Hotel is on Burgh Island, less than a mile off England's southwestern coast. This hotel is in an early 20th century Art Deco building, and its guests rooms offer views of the English Channel. The on-site restaurant features seafood cuisine, and 80 percent of the seafood served in the restaurant is caught within a 20-mile radius of the hotel. Burgh Island is 26 acres, and the entire perimeter of the island is within walking distance of the hotel. Guests who walk to the island's southern and western edges have chances to spot dolphins and whales. The hotel is accessible from the mainland via the Sea Tractor, a hydraulic ferry vessel that resembles a farm tractor.

    Lumley Castle

    • Situated in Durham County, the Lumley Castle in northeastern England is approximately 30 minutes south of the city of Newcastle. This hotel is in a converted 15th century castle, and is adjacent to the manicured gardens and walking paths in Lumley Park. Many of the 73 guest rooms have canopied beds and antique-style furniture, and overlook the River Wear and nearby 18-hole Chester Le-Street golf course. The four-post canopy bed in the King James Suites is 20 feet tall. Dining options at Lumley Castle include the upscale Black Knights Restaurant, and afternoon tea is observed every day in the hotel's Library Bar.

    The Chester Grosvenor and Spa

    • The Chester Grosvenor hotel is a luxurious accommodation in the northwestern England city of Chester, and is a member of the Five Star Alliance hotel group. This hotel was founded in 1865, and is currently owned by the Duke of Westminster. Hotel guests have access to the Grosvenor Spa, which offers massages, body treatments and foot bathing. The guest rooms and suites have modern décor and furniture pieces, and some of them have living room areas. Fine dining is available at the Simon Radley restaurant, which has been the recipient of a Michelin Star, the Parisian-influenced La Brasserie and the casual Arkie Bar and Lounge. Horse racing fans who are staying at the hotel are a five-minute drive from the Chester Race Course. Upscale boutique shopping is available at the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, within walking distance of the hotel.

    The Grand at Trafalgar Square

    • The Grand is a boutique hotel on the eastern end of Trafalgar Square in Central London. The hotel is in the historic Victorian-era Northumberland House, which was built in the late 19th century. The lobby area features classical art murals on the walls and a large chandelier. Other hotel features include a fitness room and an on-site restaurant, Boyd's Bar and Brasserie, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Fitness equipment can also be delivered to your room upon request. The hotel offers one-room suites with living rooms and kitchenettes, and is within walking distance of the gardens and walking paths at St. James Park. Live theatrical performances can be seen at Covent Garden, which is a five-minute taxi ride from the hotel. The Charing Cross tube station is a five-minute walk from the hotel for guests who want to explore other regions of London.
