Callaway X-12 Specs

      Callaway Golf was founded by Ely Callaway in 1982, and the company became the world's largest club manufacturer in 1996. Callaway's list of clients has included Arnold Palmer, Annika Sorenstam, Phil Mickelson and Graeme McDowell. The Big Bertha X-12 iron series---introduced in 1998---was made with a larger sweet spot than the standard Big Bertha irons, and it and was redesigned to give a more heel-and-toe balanced club. The X-12 irons provide great control and consistency on shots, as well as allowing a player to get the ball airborne easily.

    1, 2, and 3 Irons

    • Callaway Golf's Big Bertha X-12 1-iron has a loft of 16 degrees, a lie angle of 58.5 degrees and is 40 inches long. The 2-iron has a loft of 18.5 degrees, a lie angle of 59.2 degrees and is 39.5 inches long. The 3-iron has a loft of 21 degrees, a lie angle of 59.9 degrees and is 39 inches long.

    4, 5 and 6 Irons

    • The X-12 4-iron has a loft of 23.5 degrees, a lie angle of 60.6 degrees and is 38.5 inches long. The 5-iron has a loft of 26 degrees, a lie angle of 61.3 degrees and is 38 inches long. The 6-iron has a loft of 29 degrees, a lie angle of 62 degrees and is 37.5 inches long.

    7, 8 and 9 Irons

    • The 7-iron has a loft of 33 degrees, a lie angle of 62.5 degrees and is 37 inches long. The 8-iron has a loft of 37.5 degrees, a lie angle of 63.5 degrees and is 36.5 inches long. The 9-iron has a loft of 42 degrees, a lie angle of 64.5 degrees and is 36 inches long.

    Wedges

    • The X-12 series features four different wedges. The pitching wedge has a loft of 46.5 degrees, a lie angle of 65 degrees and is 35.5 inches long. The approach wedge has a loft of 51 degrees, a lie angle of 65 degrees and is 35.5 inches long. The sand wedge has a loft of 55 degrees, a lie angle of 65 degrees and is 35.5 inches, while the lofted wedge has a loft of 60 degrees, a lie angle of 65 degrees and is 35.5 inches long.

    Shafts

    • Callaway's X-12 series comes with one of two shafts. The company's RCH shaft is available with firm, light, regular and strong flex, while the True Temper M-10 '98 shaft is made from steel. With the RCH shaft, the irons have swing weight of D0, but with M-10 '98 they have swing weight of D1. Both the pitching and approach wedges have a swing weight of D2, while the sand and lofted wedges have a swing weight of D4.
