The Canon BP-930 battery is a lithium battery pack used in a variety of different Canon camcorders. It's small design makes it a standard battery for users who seek a long battery life without the added weight of external batteries or the hassle of AC power cables. The battery was sold by the Canon USA online store for $85 as of October 2010.

Canon advertises the BP-930 as giving up to two hours and 55 minutes of usage per charge. To ensure the battery holds its charge after repeated use over time, Canon recommends using the battery up completely before recharging it rather than charging it after each use. The battery icon on Canon's camcorders will blink on and off when the battery is running low to indicate when a recharge is necessary.

The BP-930 is a 3000 mAh battery, meaning one charge holds 3,000 units (thousand amp hour) and runs on 7.2 volts. Other manufacturers offer versions of the BP-930 with up to 4500 mAh, but the greater charge capacity also reduces the lifespan of the battery. The battery runs on lithium ion technology-- the standard in most rechargeable consumer electronics.

The Canon BP-930 can be damaged by constant exposure to high temperatures. If the battery should come into contact with water or other liquids, users should place it immediately into a bowl of dry rice, which will transfer the moisture out of the battery.
