Children's Carnival Fundraising Ideas

    • Host a children's carnival to raise money for a school, association or activity. Children love carnival games and the variety of foods associated with carnival celebrations. Be prepared to sell or collect money through a wide range of carnival activities.

    Selling Tickets

    • A common way to raise money for a carnival is by selling tickets. Tickets can include admission and activities or admission only. Offer your tickets in packages so that you can maximize your fundraising revenues. For example, you can encourage a family of four to purchase a family pack instead of individual tickets by increasing the individual ticket prices and discounting the packaged tickets. You can also offer an "early bird" special for people who purchase tickets early, allowing you access to more capital while planning your event.

    Grand Prize

    • Get a sponsor to donate a grand prize such as a premium mountain bike or new car. Position the prize on a stand in a visible location at your event. Host a game show where the grand prize is awarded to one family. Charge an entry fee for the game show. The game show should be conducted at the end of the carnival day to encourage families to stay at the carnival longer, buying food and games. A game show at the end of the day also ensures that you give each carnival guest the opportunity to sign up for a chance to win. Ensure all entry fees are collected in advance just in case any of the participating families decide to leave early.

    Small Business Parade

    • Request that local small business owners participate in a promotional parade. They will have the opportunity to showcase their products or demonstrate services during an exclusive parade in support of a good cause. Charge a fee to enter the parade and require each business owner to create a float. Enlist a high school marching band to play so that music is provided at no cost. The excitement of the music and creative floats will capture the attention of guests, giving business owners the visibility they desire.
