When purchasing a Christmas present for a boy, it is important to not only to consider the dollar amount budgeted to spend on the gift, but also his age and, most importantly, his personal interests. Christmas gifts that pique his curiosity, challenge his mental capacity, encourage his creativity or satisfy his need for physical activity are among the best choices. A genuinely thoughtful Christmas present may be a method of broadening his interests.
Building Kits
-
Toys or kits that encourage creative thinking and problem-solving can be enjoyable for a boy. Science experiment kits allow for educational learning opportunities while also satisfying a boy's natural curiosity. Model airplane, rocket, boat or car kits can test a child's perseverance by requiring him to follow step-by-step directions until the task is completed. Building block kits can provide the same satisfaction upon completion as model-building kits, but also provide the recipient the opportunity to create something unique through the use of his imagination.
Outdoor Presents
-
A boy who is active and shows an interest in outdoor activities may like a present that is physically challenging. A street hockey set, basketball hoop, soccer goal, skateboard and skateboard ramp, bicycle or scooter are all presents that demand a certain level of energy exertion. Additionally, a trampoline, climbing structure or outdoor playground can provide hours of outdoor fun for a boy.
Art Activities
-
The personality and age of the boy should be the ultimate deciding factor when choosing a Christmas present. For those interested in art, an art easel with paper, paints and paintbrushes or a sketchpad with drawing pencils or charcoal is appropriate. Boys who are musically inclined may enjoy a keyboard, guitar or drum set in addition to a few music lessons from a certified teacher. Consider cooking classes for a boy who enjoys cooking or baking, or karate classes for a child interested in martial arts. An inexpensive digital camera or video recorder can make an exciting gift for a child who shows an interest in photography or film-making.
