  Gadgets are loosely defined as technical devices that have particular, yet novel uses. Modern gadgets range from smartphones and compact cameras to headphones and mp3 players. Several publications and websites laud the best gadgets of the year with annual review lists, awards and other recognitions across several categories.

Dac Magic

• Lauded by T3 as 2010's Music Gadget of the Year, Cambridge Audio's DAC Magic audio converter allows users to remove their music from their Mac or PC and store it separately while improving sound quality. The converter also allows users to simply connect their video gaming consoles and DVD players to stereo speakers to dramatically improve sound quality. Two digital sources can be connected simultaneously for versatile use. Available in silver or black, the unit can also be positioned horizontally or vertically to become a gracious addition to any home audio cabinet.

Kodak PlaySport

• The Kodak PlaySport was recognized as one of the top gadgets of 2010 by the product review website Digital Trends. The device is a video camera that captures high definition footage in 1080p despite its wallet-size construction. The camera can also capture 5 megapixel HD stills. Kodak specially designed the gadget for outdoor enthusiasts, even making the camera waterproof in depths up to 10 feet. Compatible with both Mac and PC, the device features an expandable memory card slot that can store up to 10 hours of HD video. A separately sold remote control allows for even broader freestyle maneuverability.

Delta Water Amplifying Showerhead

• The product review website RGadgets awarded the Delta Faucet Water Amplifying Adjustable Showerhead with its distinction of the Top Green Gadget of 2010. The showerhead installs in less than a minute and instantly provides an increased water flow that operates using 26 percent less water than conventional shower heads. The device is also specially designed to prevent minerals from accumulating inside the gadget that can clog flow. Equipped with both a water-saving comfort spray setting and high-volume spray setting, the device operates using only 1.85 gallons per minute, although it feels like more water is being used.
