Correct Order for Wearing Army Service Ribbons

Army service ribbons must be worn in the correct order on your uniform in order to comply with army regulations, according to Americal.org. These ribbons should be worn under your nonmilitary decorations with your campaign medals.

Common Ribbons

• Your NCO Professional Development Ribbon should be the first of your service ribbons according to Americal.org. Follow this with your Army Service Ribbon and your Overseas Service Ribbon. The Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon and the Coast Guard Special Operations Ribbon will be the last in this section of your uniform.

Other Ribbons

• The Philippine Defense Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon should be placed last among any awards you receive from the Merchant Marines according to Americal.org. Any ribbons you receive from foreign governments can be worn under your Merchant Marine awards with prior authorization from the Army.

Considerations

• Army service medals and ribbons may not be worn on any uniform not authorized for this purpose according to Americal.org. Officers suspended of rank and enlisted soldiers serving a sentence of confinement may not wear their medals or ribbons.
