Cute Cornrow Styles

  • Cornrow with Ponytail

    • Wear cornrows braided back into a ponytail. The ponytail can be left free with your own hair or with hair extensions. For a contrast from the smooth braids, have your hairstylist install an Afro-textured ponytail where the cornrows are gathered. Wear the ponytail high on your head or positioned in the back. When you are ready for a change, create a bun in the back with your own hair or extensions.

    Zigzag pattern

    • Ask your hairstylist to braid your cornrows in a zigzag pattern instead of going straight back in parallel rows. The zigzag pattern with at least a dozen rows will create interest. Add human or synthetic hair to thicken the braids, lengthen the braids and better hold the pattern. Using hair extensions will prevent your hair design from getting frizzy with stray hairs too soon.

    Cornrow mohawk

    • A cornrow mohawk is an option if you like to draw attention with your hairstyle. The hair on each side of your head is braided toward the center of your scalp to form a mohawk. You can braid the free part of your hair in the middle, curl it to form a tightly coiled mohawk or leave the hair free. For a bolder look, dye your mohawk a copper or burgundy color.

    Thick Cornrows

    • Thick cornrow braids are quick and easy. The stylist will use human or synthetic hair to create about five thick braids beginning at the hairline and going to the nap of the neck. This style does not last as long as smaller cornrows, but it takes less time to achieve the look. Thick cornrow braids are ideal for women who like to change their hairstyles frequently.
