Dents happen with regularity to most automobiles over time, whether caused by car doors that bump into them or stones that hit them while the car is on the road, or a variety of other reasons. These can cost a bit of money to repair -- not because the repair is particularly difficult, but because of the cost of labor. However, a number of different dent removal products are available for fixing car dents yourself.

    Suction Cup Dent Puller

    • Large suction cups are placed firmly over dents in door panels and used to pull them out. This product requires nothing more then the large suction cup that, if affixed correctly, will yank out dents in a car's panel without the need for body work replacement or painting. With the suction cup in place, an easy fingertip-triggered release on the top of the suction itself allows the pressure to release. However, the suction cup works only on dents a particular width and depth.

    Dent Removal Kit

    • Dent removal kits have a wide variety of tools inside of them, allowing users to remove dents of different widths and depths. The kit consists of different bars with small suction cups on the ends of them. These bars range from a tripod to cross bars, which can be affixed over dents and used to pull them out. These bars are attached with glue from a hot glue gun as well as a small bottle of releasing agent, which is basically rubbing alcohol, to release the bar from the outside of the car and remove the glue from the car's exterior paint. These dent removal kits come in carrying cases and can be stored in the back of your car or in your garage.

    PDR Tools

    • Paintless dent repair, or PDR, tools can be used to repair dents without causing any body damage to a car's exterior. These tools consists of a number of different hooks and hangars you can insert behind the panel or on top of the dent. Then, using leverage, many dents can be effectively pulled out. These PDR kits come in a number of different sizes and are relatively expensive, with 33-piece PDR kits costing about $1,000 as of 2010. It may take some time for novices to learn how to properly use these PDR kits.
