Using a planner, also known as an agenda, is an easy way to keep track of your appointments and contacts. Whether it's a daily or monthly planner, using one can help you be organized at work and home. The type of planner that you use should work well for your lifestyle. For example, if you prefer gadgets and devices, a paper planner might not be ideal.

    Computer

    • A calendar on your computer is handy and efficient, especially if you work in an office. Note appointments and tasks that you need to complete by typing them on the calendar. There also is an area that holds contact information. In addition, you can set the calendar to send you reminders about appointments via email. Computer-based planners store more information than standard paper-and-pen planners. It's also easier to share information between different computers, such as at work and at home.

    Electronic Planner

    • An electronic, hand-held organizer is another type of planner. Because they are small and portable, they are ultra convenient and handy. Electronic planners can store a large amount of information, including names and addresses, notes and grocery lists. Electronic planners can be difficult to learn to use effectively if you are not tech-savvy.

    Loose Leaf

    • Loose-leaf day planners require you to write down the information that you wish to store. Also referred to as day planners, they usually contain address and phone number information, space for to-do lists and might have space to hold pens and pencils. The pages are bound together with metal rings and have a cover. They come in both small and large sizes, depending on your needs.
