The English northeastern city of Durham is known best for its beautiful 11th century Norman Cathedral and the historic buildings of the University of Durham, such as Durham Castle. The city has many historic sites, but also plays host to a range of boutique stores, a large entertainment complex and a shopping center. A number of discount hotels are located at the heart of the city, offering guests excellent access to the cathedral and castle, with the large city of Newcastle just 10 miles to the north.

A member venue of the large economy Premier Inn hotel chain, this city center hotel is located right on the bank of the River Wear and offers guests excellent access to a large entertainment complex. The Gala Theatre and Prince Bishop's shopping center are nearby, as well as a number of restaurants, including the Slug and Lettuce, the Bishop's Mill, Ask, Chiquitos and Nandos. Loveshack nightclub and Ebony bar are two of the city's liveliest nightspots, while the Bishop's Mill restaurant transforms into a bar in the evening. The hotel itself hosts a large restaurant area, and offers a room and meal package deal. Durham's railway and bus stations are each a ten-minute walk from the accommodation. The hotel has rooms for $62 per night as of October 2010.
