Facts on the 1966 Plymouth Fury

The Plymouth Fury was introduced in 1956 and became a favorite of police due to its speed. The Fury was produced in some form until 1989. A silver special edition was available for the 1966 model year and the VIP series was introduced. A Fury could be purchased for $2,500 to $3,100 in 1966.
  • Exterior

    • The VIP series was a luxury sedan version of the Fury. It had an optional vinyl roof, aluminum taillight panels, wood-grained inserts in the side trim and rubber bumper strips.

    Interior

    • The year 1966 brought an optional telescoping steering wheel, shell bucket seats and four-passenger seat belts. Door handles were mounted at the front edge of the seat rest to prevent accidental opening of the doors if the handle is caught on clothing.

    Engine

    • The 1966 Fury had a V8 engine with 230 horsepower. This rear wheel drive vehicle weighed 3481 pounds.
