Gifts for a Single Male

    • What do you give a single guy for a gift? handsome image by Ivanna Buldakova from Fotolia.com

You're buying a gift for a single guy. Maybe you have a lot of money; maybe you don't. Even though it's the thought that counts, it would still be great to get him something he could both use and enjoy. Perhaps you are able to spend enough to get him something he normally wouldn't purchase for himself. On the other hand, if money is a factor, you could give him the gift of time and thoughtful consideration.

    The Gift of Food

    • Some men know their way around the kitchen better than most women. But as a rule, a single guy would appreciate some culinary pampering. Find out what he likes to eat and prepare him one or several meals. Most guys don't spend a lot of time chopping, dicing and braising, so chances are good he will appreciate having one or two meals prepared as a gift. If you make him seafood lasagna, for instance, instead of presenting him with the entire dish, divide the lasagna up into several single portions and put them in disposable foil containers so he can freeze them for convenient and easy meals. If he doesn't have time to cook and you don't either, a restaurant gift card might be a better choice.

    Car Wash or Oil Change

    • Whereas gas is an absolute necessity for his car, car washes are nice to have but not as nice to pay for. If he's a struggling college student or if times are tough, his car might need an oil change too, so think about giving him a certificate or voucher from a nearby car wash or lube shop.

    Home Décor

    • If a row of beer bottles lined up across the top of the cupboards is his idea of home decorating, perhaps you should think about helping him out with some contemporary home décor as a gift. Ask him what colors he likes, or stay with neutral ones such as tan, brown or beige to be safe. A nice masculine candle holder with a musk or linen candle would be appropriate. Alternately, choose a nice globe or lamp for his living room. Another consideration might be new linens for his bed, kitchen or bathroom, since most single men tend to spend their money on other things.

    Books

    • Books always make a nice gift, but taste is subjective, so a gift card to a local bookstore might be the answer. It's always nice to select a new book or two, especially when someone else is paying for them. Even if he doesn't enjoy reading as a hobby, most bookstores contain other items from which he could choose, such as magazines, software or DVDs.
