Grant Research & Preparer Salaries

Many nonprofit groups and agencies rely on grant money to support their efforts and organizations. A grant researcher and preparer, also known as a grant writer, completes and submits grant applications to procure these funds. Salaries depend on the writer's experience and the hiring organizations' operating budget salary guidelines.
  • Salary Range

    • According to PayScale.com, a grant researcher and preparer in the United States earned an annual salary between $33,479 and $52,469 as of 2010.

    Job Description

    • Grant writers who are staff members research grant sources applicable to the nature of their organization, subsequently complete the application and provide the requested eligibility information. Independent grant writers typically contract to write grants on an as-needed basis and do not seek out grant fund resources.

    Preferred Skills & Background

    • Two years' experience in grant researching and preparation is desirable. Background working with nonprofit, philanthropic or charitable agencies is helpful. Strong writing, editing and research skills are assets.
