Light
-
Alstroemeria plants require full sun, all day. When planted in the shade, the stems become weak and the flower heads flop over.
Soil
-
Most garden plants require well-drained soil, and it is vital for the alstroemeria. If you have a heavy, clay soil, amend it well with compost or manure to improve the drainage.
Timing
-
Alstroemeria rhizomes should be planted in May or June. If your region is subjected to late frosts, June is the best time for you to plant.
