A holiday basket can be a simple yet special gift for co-workers, neighbors, out-of-state relatives or that difficult person to shop for on your list. A few ideas may help you put together baskets for various holidays.

A Thanksgiving basket has a vast amount of possibilities. You can fill the basket with autumn fruits, including apples, pears and a melon. The basket can contain meat such as ham, turkey or sausage or even kinds of cheese. You can add nuts such as acorns and pistachios or marshmallows and canned yams. Pumpkin pie and ginger-scented candles or bath and lotions can complement the other items. You could decorate the basket with an autumn-colored ribbon and bow, or even fit a little scarecrow doll in the basket.

Christmas cookies, cherry or apple pie and fudge are all options for a Christmas basket. Meat can range from ham to sausages. A container of mustard or crackers with some kind of cheese will fit well into the basket, as will packages of hot cocoa and candy canes. A little Santa Claus or snowman can be used as decoration, and the basket's exterior can be sprayed with canned snow. Sprinkling a little red, green or silver glitter around the basket will give it a little more of the Christmas feel.
Halloween Basket

You can put your favorite candies in a Halloween basket. You might even want to add the more traditional Halloween favorites, such as caramel apples and candy corn. You could place little decorative pumpkins and fake spiders, black cats or witches into the basket.
Easter Basket

Fine wine, meat and cheeses work well in an Easter basket. A variety of candies such as jelly beans and Easter-colored versions or a box of assorted chocolates are options, too. You could include colored hard-boiled eggs or chocolate Easter eggs. You may even want to use colorful Easter decorative grass. You also could add stuffed animals such as a little bunny or chick.
