How do I Disassemble a Sony W500i?

The Sony Ericsson W500i, also known as the W550i or W600i, is a model of all-in-one cell phone and Walkman manufactured by a partnership of the Japanese Sony Corporation and the Swedish Ericsson telecommunications company. You might want to take apart a W500i to access the battery or the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card. You also may need to take apart a W500i if you plan to store the phone for a prolonged period of time. Allow about five minutes for this task.
    • 1

Switch off the W500i by pressing and holding down the "Power" button on top of the phone. Disconnect the battery charger if it is attached to the phone.

    • 2

Turn the phone over. The back of the camera should be facing upward.

    • 3

Push down on the battery cover, located beneath the camera lens. Slide the cover toward the bottom of the phone. The cover will detach; lift it off.

    • 4

Slide a fingernail or other thin, rigid object between the bottom of the battery and the phone. Lift the battery up and out of the phone.

    • 5

Quickly push and release the protruding edge of the SIM card. The SIM card will click and release from the phone. Pull the SIM card out.

    • 6

Gather the parts of the W500i. Your phone is now disassembled.
