How Do I Make a Children's Batman Hat & Mask?

The comic book character Batman is also known as "The Caped Crusader" and "The Dark Knight." He wears a bat-themed outfit when fighting crime in the fictional Gotham City, often with his sidekick Robin.

Preparation

• Look at pictures of Batman to get a feel for what his mask looks like. This is such a simple method, you can involve the kids with making their outfit.

Hat

• One of the simplest ways to create a hat is to use a balaclava, or ski mask, that covers the head and neck. It's easy for a child to pull on, and all you need to do is sew on two triangles for bat ears and cut away the area around the chin and mouth.

Mask

• Fun foam, available from craft stores, is comfortable to wear and easy to cut. The mask needs to cover the face from the forehead to the cheek bones, with a curve at the bottom to leave the nose free. Attaching elastic to the sides of the mask allow it to be placed easily over the hat.
