How do I Remove Fiero Headlight Gear?

Headlight malfunction or failure is a common problem for Fiero owners. This problem can be caused by any number of factors, such as wiring malfunctions and internal headlight motor problems. Learn how to remove the headlight gear to replace or repair any part of your Fiero headlight assembly. The removal procedure is fairly straightforward and can usually be done in a matter of minutes.

Open the hood of your Fiero and secure it. Disconnect the battery power by grabbing the negative and positive cables and pulling them off of the battery terminals. Make sure that the ends of the cables rest on something that is non-metallic.

Reach behind the headlight assembly and find the headlight wiring and headlight motor wires. Disconnect them by grabbing the wiring connector and pulling it away from the assembly.

    • 3

Locate the four 10 mm nuts that hold the headlight into place. There will be two on the top and two on the bottom.

Reach behind the headlight assembly and turn the knob on the headlight motor with your hand to tilt the headlight back so you can access the lower two nuts. Apply slight pressure to tilt it if the headlight sticks. Loosen the lower two nuts about halfway with a 10 mm socket wrench. You do not have to remove the lower bolts.
