According to Toshiba, the A355d-S6930 uses double data rate 2 (DDR2) memory. This is the second generation of DDR memory, capable of transferring twice the data per memory access as DDR1. No other type of memory will work with the A355d-S6930.
Speed Rating

DDR2 comes in a variety of different speeds. The fastest the A355d-S6930 can handle is PC2-6400. This memory transfers data at 6400 megabytes per second (MB/s). According to the website Crucial, this also is known as "DDR2-800" because it makes 800 million transfers per second. Faster memory modules may work with the system but will not run faster than 6400 MB/s.
