SIM card owners may lose the data that exists on their card because their phone malfunctions, it drops in water or they no longer remember their password information. However, through the use of a SIM card reader and the software with which it comes, you can once again obtain the information want to find from your SIM card. This comes in handy and stops you from the purchase of a new cell phone.

  Power off your mobile device. Remove the rear cover of your mobile phone. Take out your SIM card.

  Install the SIM card reader software on your laptop or desktop. Adhere to the instructions on your screen to finish the installation procedure. This enables the software to read the data on your phone and lets you see the SIM card information.

  Place your SIM card in a reader connected via USB. Insert this device in an empty USB slot on your computer.

  Go to "Start" and "My Computer." Double-click your mouse on the device to bring up a separate box.

  Right-click your mouse on "New" and "Folder" to make a new folder. Title it and click "Enter." Double-click the folder to open it.
