How to Add a News Ticker to a Page

News tickers display streaming news story headlines along a small area. You can find news tickers on televised news broadcasts, billboards or large buildings. Many websites present similar news tickers that display specific news stories that relate the site's content. Most websites show the ticker in a non-prominent location such as one of the sidebars. You can use a free online service to present news tickers on your own website.

Visit a free news ticker website such as Feedzilla, RSS Pump or Blast Casta. These sites prepare the news ticker according to your specifications so that you can instantly display customized news stories on your site.

Select the types of news stories that you want displayed inside the news ticker. Depending on the site, you may select stories to display by selecting a category such as "health" or "finance" or by entering keywords. Some sites enable you to create news tickers from Twitter content.

    • 3

Select ticker's width and height to fit in the space you designated on your website.

    • 4

Choose the number of news stories to show inside the ticker. If you select "10," for example, the news ticker will scroll 10 news stories. If you select "2," the ticker will scroll 2 news stories.

Customize the news ticker design to match the look and feel of your website. Most sites will enable you to choose colors for display of ticker background, news headlines and news summaries. Some sites also let you select font type and size.

Preview the news ticker to ensure that it displays according to your needs. Most sites display a news ticker preview alongside the design options so you can view how the ticker will appear on your site.

Copy the news ticker code from the website and paste the code into the HTML of your Web page.
