How to: Beadwork

Use beadwork to create personalized, fun jewelry. Whether you are making a necklace, earrings or bracelet, the basic process is the same; different jewelry items just take different amounts of beads to create. One of the best things about learning to do beadwork is that there is no age restriction. However, the younger you are, the larger the beads you should use, due to choking hazards.

Decide whether you want to make a bracelet, necklace or earrings. This will affect how much string or memory wire you will need to create your jewelry.

    • 2

Measure out your string or memory wire by wrapping it around the desired body part. For instance, if you want to create a bracelet, wrap the string around your wrist until one end touches the other. Cut here with your scissors.

    • 3

Tie an O ring to one side of the cut string. Make sure that it is tightly knotted so that you won't lose beads as you string them on.

    • 4

String your beads onto the string or memory wire in whatever pattern you choose.

    • 5

Tie the clasp to the other end of the string, knotting it tightly so that it does not come off.
