Log on to the state of Florida Human Resources site and fill out the state application and the FWC Supplemental Application. You must print a copy of both applications to mail to the agency.

Take the Test of Adult Basic Education and the Basic Abilities Test. The tests are benchmarks and must be completed before training or an interview can take place. The TABE exam tests reading, math, spelling and language. The BAT test is designed to determine an applicant's ability to pass the training curriculum.

Pass the physical fitness exam. According to the FWC website, the exam is based on Cooper Institute of Aerobic Research standards. To pass, you must meet minimum standards in vertical jump, sit-ups, push-ups, a 1 1/2-mile run and swimming.

Prepare for an oral interview session before a review panel. If you are selected for this stage of the process, you will be subject to a background check as well as extensive medical, physical and psychological evaluation.

Attend the required job training sessions if offered employment. The Basic Recruit Academy lasts 19 weeks. Agency specific training is six weeks. After training you will be assigned to your job location and undergo 14 weeks of on the job training. Upon completion you will be a licensed Fish and Wildlife officer.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission employs more than 700 wildlife law enforcement officers, according to the agency's website. The officers enforce a variety of laws including fishing, hunting, wildlife and boating laws. In order to become a wildlife officer in the state of Florida, you must undergo training and pass both written and physical tests.
