How to Bleach Wash a Pool Enclosure Screen

Bleach will remove mold from a pool enclosure screen, but you should never use straight bleach because it will attack paint or a bare aluminum frame. Instead, spray the screen with a 50-50 mixture of bleach and water. In applying and rinsing the cleaning solution, be careful not to damage the screen. High-pressure nozzles can cut the screen. If you use a pressure washer, keep it on the lowest setting or use a low-pressure garden sprayer hose attachment such as the kind used to apply plant food.

  Fill the sprayer attachment halfway to the "full" line with bleach and top off with water. Attach the sprayer to the hose.

  Spray the screen, starting at the highest point and working your way down. Following a pattern will help eliminate missed spots.

  Work your way around the enclosure, one section at a time, paying attention to spots and stains.

  Turn the sprayer attachment off and repeat the pattern, rising the solution off all areas with plain water.

  Allow the screen to dry. It may appear clean while wet, but areas needing to be retreated will show up when it's dry. Repeat the process to clean stubborn areas.

  Store any unused solution in a clearly marked, airtight container.
