How to Boost Wireless Speed

It can be frustrating to do something on your computer when your connection is slow. It delays important things that you need to have done right away. Downloads take forever, and you can barely load a web page or even watch a video. Here are some simple things to do to have a faster and stronger connection so that you can do the things you need to do.

Buy a repeater for your wireless network. This would take the existing signal and extend the wireless signal. This will not only boost the speed of the connection but it will also improve the overall signal. A repeater can even work without needing to have anything wired.

Move anything that may be blocking or interfering with your wireless signal. Any close object such as a plant, table or chair could possibly obstruct the signal, and moving it could help your signal to become faster. You can also try moving your wireless router somewhere that it will not be obstructed by any objects.

Make sure that you are using the latest firmware for your wireless router. The manufacturers of your router should have the updates available to download from their website.

Get a new antenna for your wireless router. A good antenna for your router would be a high-gain antenna that can focus the signal in one direction instead of outside of your home. Aiming this antenna in your direction should give you a much stronger and faster Internet connection.

Replace your DSL microfilter. After a while, this filter might become cracked or damaged in some way, and it could negatively impact the speed of your wireless Internet connection.
