How to Bring Up Your IQ

The average Intelligence Quotient (IQ) ranges from 90 to 109. Your personal IQ is a number that results when you take standardized psychological tests that are compared to people of the same age group. People with a high IQ have better academic achievements, perform better on the job and enjoy a more successful career. If your IQ is not where you want it to be, there are steps you can take to bring it up.

      Take a scientifically valid IQ test to see what your current IQ is. You can search online to find IQ tests that you can take. A fee may be required.

      Breath deeply through the nose to increase oxygen in the blood. This is a quick way to boost the brain's functioning. Meditation is another way to practice breathing and relaxation, both of which will increase brain power.

      Exercise to get the blood flowing. Not only will it wake up the brain, it will also help you sleep better at night which is essential when trying to increase your IQ.

      Avoid simple carbohydrates such as sugar, white flour and potatoes. These foods make you sluggish and tired which will slow down your mental ability.

      Practice speed reading. By skimming through text quickly, you can train your brain to process information quickly and increase your knowledge.

      Play mind games. Chess, Sudoku, word searches and the Rubik's Cube are all great to stimulate and exercise the brain. Chess is the best mind game because it makes you use both sides of the brain. You have to use visualization and think about what your move will be and what your opponent's countermove will be.
