How to Build a Pedal Car for a Kid

Driving pedal cars has been going on for decades and for young children this can be a very fun activity. Building a pedal car can be a lot of fun too. Pedal cars come in many different designs, shapes and colors and children can create their very own pedal car by using a basic frame. It is important to keep some safety measures in mind, such as installing reflectors on the pedal car and making sure it's colored brightly for vehicles to be able to see the pedal cars on the road.

  Mount the seat in a comfortable position, since this will be where all the power comes from when the body is being pushed against the seat.

  Attach the front wheels to the frame. The rear wheels on a pedal car are used for steering, which means the front wheels will be installed so they do not move.

  Draw a line from where the front wheel touches the ground to the center of the rear axle on both sides. Select a point about 15 cm down the lines and this is where the steering will be linked together with swivels to keep the wheels in track.

  Use a steering column and drop it through the cycle drop tube and attach the arm at a 90 degree angle.

  Create the bodywork and make sure it is colorful so that other people using the road will be able to spot the pedal car easily. If you want to install fabric you need to make sure that it stays away from the wheels so that you will not damage the pedal car.

  Install cycle caliper brakes to both rear wheel to be able to stop the pedal car.
