How to Calculate Area of Land

Calculating the area of something is a basic lesson taught in grammar school, and it also has real-life applications. For example, if you need to know the area of a piece of land, you can use a calculative technique to figure it out with ease. Calculating the area of land doesn't require a lot of steps and can be accomplished using just a few materials.
    • 1

Measure the side length of the property. Record the measurement.

    • 2

Measure the top edge length of the property. Record the measurement.

    • 3

Multiply the side and top measurements. The resulting calculation is the area square footage of the piece of land. For example, if the side length is 100 feet and the top length is 50 feet, the calculated area would be 5,000 square feet.
