How to Care for Transition Lenses

Eyeglasses with Transitions lenses react to light by darkening as they encounter ultraviolet radiation. Regular care and maintenance of the lenses will ensure optimum performance and a long life. Transitions lenses should be cared for like any other eyeglasses.

Always keep lenses in a hard case when not wearing them, to protect the lenses and frames from scratches and damage.

To clean lenses, rub with fingers and warm, soapy water. Rub dry with a clean, soft cloth. Avoid paper towels that could scratch. Also avoid household cleaners and creams as they can damage lenses.

To avoid scratching the lenses when setting them on a table, close the frames then set them down frame side first. Avoid setting them on the floor or on bathroom surfaces, where lenses can become soiled with various lotions, chemicals, make-up, and other items harmful to the lenses.

Do not perch glasses on your head. Eyeglasses are designed to rest on the nose. Wearing them on the head will cause them to become stretched and misaligned over time.
