How to Change the Domain Admin Password

The Windows domain has a main account called the administrator. The domain administrator controls all aspects of the network resources. Changing the password often protects it from being hacked. The domain administrator password is changed from the Windows command prompt. Only the domain administrator has access to change the password, but you can also use an account that has domain administrator privileges.

  Log in to your Windows domain using the administrator account or an account that has administrator privileges.

  Click the Windows "Start" button and type "cmd" into the text box. Press "Enter" to open the command line.

  Type "net user administrator password" and press "Enter" where "password" is the new password for your account. The password changes, and the next time you log in, the new password is required.
