Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of your desktop. Type "Secpol.msc" in the search field that appears and press your "Enter" key. Enter your password if required.

Select "Account Policies" in the left column of the window that appears. Select "Password Policy."

Double-click "Password must meet complexity requirements" and choose "Enable" or "Disable" by clicking the radio button next to either choice. Click the "Apply" button and then the "OK" button. Close the window.

Windows allows the administrator of the computer to control the way system passwords are created and handled by users.
