How to Change the Route on a Garmin Nuvi

Garmin has many different models of Nuvi GPS navigational systems. This series of devices are used to help you find your way while driving in a motor vehicle. The maps on the Garmin Nuvi's cover public streets and highways and expand across the country. To change a route you have already entered on your Garmin Nuvi, you have several options. Choose the one that works best for your situation.

  Touch the "Menu" option to get back to the main screen while your current route is in progress. Touch "Where to?" and enter the new location you wish to travel to. Touch "Go!" to confirm. This option will take you to the new destination and bring you back to your original route.

  Press "Menu" while your route is in progress and select the "Detour" option to prompt your Garmin Nuvi to change the route for you. This feature enables you to avoid something coming up ahead, such as construction or traffic.

  Tap the "Menu" icon to get out of the map view and back to the main menu page. Touch "Stop" to interrupt your current route and "Where to?" to enter a completely different location. This option will not bring you back to your original route.
