How to Change the VNC Viewer Port

Real VNC is a software application used to remotely control a desktop in another location on your network. When you set up your VNC server, you specify the port to connect to the remote computer. You specify the port by entering the server name, a colon and the specified port. This is how you change your default port in the VNC Viewer.

  Click the Windows "Start" button, and select "All Programs." Click "Real VNC" and then "VNC Viewer." This opens a connection dialog box.

  Type the server to which you want to connect with the port specified. For instance, the following text connects to the computer named "mycomputer" with the port number 5900:

  mycomputer:5900

  Click "Connect" to connect to the remote computer. If a user name and password are required, enter the information into the pop-up window. Click "OK" to open the remote desktop.
