Contact the person or company that is sending funds to you through Moneygram, and ask for the eight-digit confirmation number. Be certain you know how much money was sent and that you know the answer to the secret question that was listed on the money transfer. Note that not all transfers will have a secret question listed. Inquire with your sender to determine if you will need to answer a secret question.

Contact MoneyGram's automated system at 1-800-666-3947. Call from a touch tone phone. Press "1" for English or "2" for Spanish. When prompted, clearly say "Check Transaction Status." State the "Reference Number" when prompted by the automated operator, or state the sender's phone number. Wait while your information is located, then you will be told if your funds are available.

Locate your nearest MoneyGram agency by visiting the MoneyGram "Find Us" website. Visit your local MoneyGram agent, and bring along with you government-issued identification such as a passport or a driver's license. Fill out the appropriate form in order to receive your funds, including the eight-digit confirmation number and the answer to the secret question if needed. Give the form to an available agent, and wait while your information is verified.
