How to Clean the Chevy Avalanche

The Chevy Avalanche is a versatile vehicle. It can be changed from a pickup truck to an SUV, meaning you can use it to haul heavy equipment and take the kids to their soccer match. The Chevy Avalanche can fit six passengers when it is functioning as an SUV and it has the power of a full-size pickup truck. To take proper care of the Avalanche, Chevrolet offers tips for cleaning.
    • 1

Read the label of the car washing soap you use to clean your Chevy Avalanche. Those that are not recommended for plastics should not be used because they could damage your vehicle's nameplates and emblems. The cleaner also should not contain abrasives, petroleum or acid.

Create a cleaning solution to wash the exterior of the Chevy Avalanche. Fill a bucket with warm water and add several drops of car washing soap to create suds. If the label recommends an amount, use that.

    • 3

Hose off the entire surface of your Chevy Avalanche before you clean it with soap.

    • 4

Use a large, non-abrasive sponge to clean the body, wheels and trim of the Chevy Avalanche with the cleaning solution. Clean small areas at a time to make sure the soap doesn't dry on the surface. Rinse each area thoroughly with a hose after it's cleaned.

    • 5

Dry the Chevy Avalanche with a 100 percent cotton towel. This will give it a good shine and prevent scratches and water spots.

    • 6

Clean the exterior lamps and lenses of your Chevy Avalanche using a soft cloth and a cleaning solution. Rinse and dry them immediately after cleaning.

    • 7

Soak a lint-free cloth in windshield washer fluid and use it to clean the wiper blades. Lift them up gently to clean the underside and the portion of the window beneath. Rinse with water.

    • 8

Spray glass cleaner on each window, one at a time, to clean them. Use a lint-free cloth to clean the windows with the glass cleaner and rinse with cool water when you're finished. Dry with a clean, 100 percent cotton towel to avoid streaks.

Use tire cleaner to clean the tires. The cleaner you use should not be petroleum based. Scrub the tires thoroughly with a stiff brush after applying the cleaner. Rinse with water.
