How to Clean Your Teeth With a Water Jet

Dental water jets and water jet toothbrushes use the power of pressured water to clean the surfaces and in between your teeth. Using a water jet or water jet toothbrush is an excellent way to supplement or even replace your daily tooth brushing habits. Cleaning your teeth with a water jet is akin to cleaning your teeth with a regular toothbrush, making the procedure an easy-to-learn and highly beneficial habit.
  • Water Jets

    • 1

Insert the water jet into your mouth as you would a standard toothbrush, starting in the back and outside of your teeth.

    • 2

      Activate the water jet.

    • 3

Move the tip of the water jet up and down over the surfaces and in the gaps between your teeth. Slowly work your way from the back to the front of your mouth.

    Water Jet Toothbrushes

    • 1

Apply toothpaste to the bristles on the brush end of your water jet toothbrush. Though the water, brushes and vibrations of the water jet toothbrush do remove a lot of debris and film from your teeth, the addition of toothpaste can help prevent the build-up of plaque and tartar.

    • 2

Insert the water jet toothbrush into your mouth as you would a typical toothbrush, so the brush and water jet work from the back to the front of your mouth.

    • 3

      Activate the water jet toothbrush.

    • 4

Brush your teeth as you would normally, with broad, slow strokes from the top to the bottom of your teeth, and front to back. Start on either the inside or the outside of your teeth.

    • 5

Brush the side of your teeth (inside or outside) that you didn't brush yet.
