How to Close Your Metacafe Account

MetaCafe is an online social media community that allows its users to share, promote, distribute and rank brief video and streaming media. MetaCafe has several features that distinguishes it from other video sharing sites, such as a downloadable toolbar, integration with other social media sites, a unique ranking algorithm that allows users to promote best-rated videos, and a content filter that avoids duplicate content. Users don't have to register to view videos, but they do have to register unique accounts in order to upload their own or participate in any of the social aspects of the site, such as commenting and ranking videos. Closing a MetaCafe account involves several easy steps.

  Delete all of your uploaded content from your MetaCafe account. This is necessary because MetaCafe will sometimes decline or delay an account closure with a lot of user content still on it. While logged in, click your desired Channel, click the "Submitted" tab and locate the videos you wish to delete. Click on the "Remove From MetaCafe" link next to the video thumbnail in order to delete the video from your account. Repeat this for all of the videos and content in your channels.

  Contact MetaCafe to let them know you want to close your account. Email accountclosure@metacafe.com from the email address associated with your MetaCafe account. Include your user ID in the email, and explain that you'd like to have your account deleted.

  Remove all MetaCafe software, including the toolbar, from your computer. Click the "Start" button and go to the Windows Control Panel. Double-click the "Add or Remove Programs" icon and scroll down to the MetaCafe software. Click on it once to highlight, then click the "Remove" button. Follow the simple on-screen instructions to completely remove the software from your computer.
