How to Connect a Cell Phone to a Ford Sync

Ford SYNC allows Ford automobile drivers to have hands-free cell phone interaction without having to worry about charging and hooking up multiple devices. It's easy to connect your cell phone to Ford SYNC.
    • 1

Turn on your cell phone's Bluetooth functionality. Refer to your phone's manual or contact a trained customer service representative if you are unclear about how to turn on your Bluetooth.

    • 2

Press the "Voice" button on your car's dash that connects to your car's Ford SYNC. The car will respond "To continue this operation, use the screen." Skip to the next step.

    • 3

Type the six-digit passkey you see on the Ford SYNC screen into your cell phone's Bluetooth menu when prompted.

    • 4

Read and agree to any prompts. These might include a request to accept an incoming SYNC signal and a query as to whether you want to always accept an incoming SYNC signal.

    • 5

Indicate if you want the newly connected phone to be SYNC's "favorite" phone. A "favorite" phone is given precedence when it is within the connection area of your SYNC.

    • 6

Choose whether you want 911 assistance to be set automatically. By default, this option is not selected.
