How to Customize Egg Cartons

Egg cartons are used to hold fresh eggs in your refrigerator, but are often discarded into a garbage can once the eggs have been eaten. Instead of throwing the cartons away, you can decorate and customize the egg cartons so that they are cute enough to be used to hold items in a child's bedroom. You can effectively decorate and customize the egg cartons by using a few basic craft materials that can be purchased at any art store.

  Paint the outside of an empty egg carton with tempera paint.

  Sprinkle glitter over the wet paint. Allow the glitter-covered paint to dry completely.

  Squeeze swirls of glitter glue around the top and sides of the egg carton. Make beautiful, aesthetically pleasing patterns, such as spirals, zigzags, circles and corkscrews. Allow the glitter glue to dry completely.

  Squeeze dime-sized dollops of glitter glue onto different locations on the top of the egg carton.

  Place plastic jewels onto the dollops of glitter glue. Allow the jewel-covered dollops of glue to dry completely.

  Repeat this process with the inside of the egg carton.
