How to Customize House Keys

It is easy to confuse your house keys with another person's set of keys if you live in a home with multiple family members or roommates. You can quickly customize each set of keys by crafting unique identification tags in different colors and attaching them to each set of keys so each house member can identify her own set of keys. Creating playful identification tags can be a fun group activity.

  Choose a different-colored piece of felt for each member of your household.

  Cut out the first initial of each household member's first name twice from his piece of felt so that you have two identical pieces of felt cut out in the shape of the same letter. Make the cutouts using the first two letters of the name if multiple household members have the same first initial.

  Take small pieces of cotton and place them between the two cutout pieces of felt to create an even, firmly packed filling. Sew the two pieces of felt together neatly.

  Sew the middle of a small length of ribbon onto the top of the felt initial so that the two dangling ends can be tied together around a key ring. Tie the ribbon securely around the key ring. Create felt initials with ribbon attachments for all members of your household so they can easily identify their household keys.
