How to Customize Word Using the OCT

When you are working with a document using the Microsoft Office Word 2010 application, it may be helpful to create a customized toolbar that features select buttons and options that meet your preferences. Using the Office Customization Tool (OCT) feature you can easily customize the Quick Access Toolbar menu. The customized toolbar can then be viewed at any time and you can also choose where the toolbar appears in the application.

      Open the Microsoft Word 2010 application on your computer. Right-click on any command from the top ribbon of the application that you want to add to your customized toolbar.

      Select the "Add to Quick Access Toolbar" option from the shortcut menu. Right-click on the Quick Access Toolbar and then click the "Customize the Quick Access Toolbar" option.

      Select the "Move Up" or "Move Down" option if you want to move the position of the customized toolbar.

      Click any other commands you want to add to your customized toolbar by clicking on a command from the "Choose commands from" list in the Office Customization Tool dialog box.

      Click the "Add" button to add any command and then close out of the Office Customization Tool.
