How to Decorate a Silent Auction Basket

Silent auctions are an exciting yet gently competitive way to raise money for an organization or charity that you care about. If you're doing this as a school project, get the various classes to think up design ideas for the auction basket. Ask local businesses and individuals to contribute items or sponsor a basket.

Choose a theme for your basket, such as "movie night" or "pasta night." The basket will be more appealing if it's designed around a theme.

    • 2

Attach themed embellishments to your basket's handle and to the basket itself with a hot glue gun. For example, a movie night basket can have tickets and pictures of movie scenes attached to it. A game night basket can have game pieces glued to the handle.

Wrap a ribbon around the top of the basket and tie a bow. If you can, select a ribbon that's related to your theme. A basket with the makings of an Italian dinner inside, or a certificate to an Italian restaurant, will pair perfectly with a green, red and white ribbon, which are the colors of the Italian flag.

Attach a decorated gift tag to the ribbon that gives a detailed list of the items in the basket, the minimum bid or other information pertinent to your auction.
