How to Design Your Own Plastic Headbands

Headbands are a fun, flirty way to spice up any outfit. On crazy days when your hair just won't cooperate, they provide an easy, instant fix. On days when you have perfect hair, headbands help emphasize it. There are many options to choose from and they can be made in any color to go with any outfit. To save money, you can recreate and personalize cute headbands.

  Put a dab of glue onto the inside of a plastic headband at the base. Press the end of the ribbon onto the glue, hold it down and tightly wrap the ribbon around the headband.

  Add glue each time you get to the inside of the headband until you reach the other side.

  Fold the end of the ribbon through the last section of ribbon that was wrapped and glue it down. Let the glue dry.

  Glue jewels along the length of the headband for a bit of sparkle. Use different shapes and sizes of jewels. Glue on different colors for added interest, but make the colors complementary.

  Add feathers on one side of the headband by putting a dab of glue where the base of the feathers will go. Position the ends of the feathers on the glue. Put glue on the inside of the headband and wrap ribbon around the base of the feathers to keep them firmly in place.

  Attach a hair clip -- either flowered or jeweled -- to one side of the headband as a substitute for feathers or jewels. Clip it on and glue it securely in place.
