Locate the oxygen sensor. Oxygen sensors will always be found on your vehicle's exhaust manifold, typically right before or immediately after the catalytic converter. If your car is equipped with two oxygen sensors, they will be found in both locations.
- 2
Follow the wire running from the tip of the oxygen sensor to where it connects to your vehicle's electrical system.
- 3
Unplug the wire, and tie it so that it is out of the way and not dragging on the ground.

How to Disable an Auto Oxygen Sensor
Oxygen sensors are the little gizmos on your car that are responsible for regulating and monitoring the air-to-fuel mixture that gets pumped into your engine. Ordinarily, there is no real reason to try and disable an oxygen sensor, as you typically get better performance from your engine when they are working. If, however, your oxygen sensor has become damaged or is no longer working, you may get better results--at least in the short term--if you simply go in, and disable it.
