How to Enable GPRS in a Mobile Phone

GPRS stands for general packet radio service, a telecommunications technology commonly used in Europe and Asia. GPRS is a 2G, or second generation, technology; the data transfer speed is slower than that of a 3G, or third generation, wireless phone. If the phone drops the connection and you are unable to reconnect to the network you may need to re-enable GPRS in the mobile phone.

Turn on the phone and go to the "Main Menu." Scroll until reaching the "Settings" option, then click it.

Scroll to the "Network" option and select "Network Setup." Click "Automatic." This will automatically pick the closest accessible network for the phone.

Turn off the phone, wait for two to three seconds, then turn it back on. Check the reception reading. At least a few bars will show if you successfully enabled the GPRS connection. If no bars show, repeat these steps.
