How to Fasten Greenhouse Plastic

It's important to put plastic over your greenhouse to insulate it from the heat. Plastic is resilient, but changes in temperature can cause it to expand or contract, requiring you to check it and re-install it every so often.

Check your greenhouse frame. If your frame is made out of wood, sand any splinters or non-smooth parts and remove any nails from the surface of the wood. If it is made out of metal, remove rust.

Place the loose end of the roll of plastic on the ground. Place a heavy object on top of it to keep it from moving. Pick up the roll of plastic and walk backwards to unroll it. It is best to work early in the morning, when the temperature is between 59 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit and there is little wind.

Attach ropes to all four corners of the plastic. Mount the plastic on the greenhouse by pulling the ropes up and over the greenhouse walls. Continue stretching the plastic with the ropes until the plastic evenly covers the greenhouse and you cannot see any wrinkles.
