Pour rubbing alcohol onto a clean cloth and clean the surface of the scratched CD. The rubbing alcohol will remove any dust, dirt or residue from the CD. While cleaning, wipe across the CD, rather than around the diameter of the CD. After cleaning, allow the CD time to air dry before testing it.

Spray furniture polish onto a clean cloth and polish the surface of the scratched CD. The furniture polish will polish the scratches on the CD, making it much easier for the CD to be read by a CD player or computer. Wipe across the CD, rather than around. After polishing, clean the CD with rubbing alcohol and allow it to air dry.

Squirt toothpaste onto a clean cloth and buff the surface of the scratched CD. The toothpaste will buff out the scratches on the CD with its grainy texture, allowing the CD to be read by a CD player or computer. After buffing, clean the CD with the rubbing alcohol and allow it to air dry before testing it.
